The kick-off event of the DIS Regional Group Frankfurt brought together more than 80 arbitration lawyers in summer temperatures on Monday, 8 July 2024, to discuss the topic ‘German law on general terms and conditions - competitive disadvantage for the (arbitration) location?’.
After a welcoming address by Ramona Schardt and Reinmar Wolff, the regional coordinators Annekathrin Schmoll (Gibson Dunn) and Moritz Schmitt (rothorn legal) welcomed the speakers and guests which was followed by an entertaining introduction to the topic by Thomas Pfeiffer (University of Heidelberg). Sabrina Streicher (BASF), Stephanie Pfisterer (Homburger) and Anna Masser (A&O Shearman) then discussed possible procedural (and substantive) solutions under German and Swiss law with the engaged audience.
Finally, the hosts from Baker McKenzie Frankfurt, Lisa Reiser and Max Oehm, served fresh ice cream in DIS waffles and cold drinks on an impressive rooftop terrace.
