Dear Members,
I am very proud and honored to be appointed as Secretary General of the DIS. I am grateful for the positive feedback and warm welcome I received by so many of you. This made it easy for me to move to the Rhineland and to get started at the DIS in Bonn.
I very much look forward to developing the DIS further and to contributing to the fact that the interests of the companies are always in the focus of the institute. My years as dispute resolution specialist at Siemens AG and Siemens Energy Global gave me a good understanding of the companies’ needs and requirements when it comes to dispute resolution. I intend to stay relevant to the users and I am committed to meeting the high standard of excellence that users expect.
There are numerous major items on my agenda for the next couple of months.
- The first relates to strengthening and extending the DIS team. We are currently hiring counsel and case administrators. I would be very grateful if you could spread the word. We have big plans and look forward to every application!
- The second issue concerns digitalization, particularly implementing a cloud-based electronic platform to improve efficiency of DIS administered arbitrations. As you know the DIS signed a contract with HighQ for the management of case files. We are now in the process of customizing it to DIS proceedings.
- The third issue high on my agenda is analyzing and implementing the results of the DIS practice laboratory. Particularly, we will check whether the existing DIS rules meet the needs of users and where there is a need for changes or even new instruments.

Also, I am pleased to announce that we appointed Mr Chun-Kyung Paulus Suh as Head of Case Management Team. Mr Suh has been working with the DIS since 2018 and was promoted to Senior Councel in 2020. Let me finally say that open communication with you as members is particularly important to me. You are the most important asset the DIS has. Therefore, please feel free to contact me at any time. I am available for an open dialogue as well as for any suggestions and ideas you may have to develop the DIS further. I particulary look forward to meeting you soon in person, maybe even at the Petersberger Schiedstage on 3 and 4 March 2023. On Friday evening there will be a champagne reception at which I will give a welcoming speech and to which I cordially invite you. I would be very glad to see you there or at one of our next DIS events.
