As arbitration lawyers, we have to grapple with valuation questions in many, if not all, our matters – regardless of the industry or jurisdiction, both in commercial and investment arbitration. However, for most lawyers, financial models look impenetrable at first. Yet, we are expected to prepare the cross-examination of quantum experts just like we prepare submissions on tricky legal questions.
This is why we are teaming up with FTI Consulting who will lead an interactive workshop on Company Valuation. Based on a practical case study, FTI Consulting's quantum experts will
- teach you what you need to know to read financial statements,
- provide an overview of different valuation methods, and
- explain what lawyers need to know to understand – or take apart during cross-examination! – a discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis.
But hang on, didn't we say "interactive"? That's right. What better way to learn about valuation models than trying them out yourself! All participants will have access to the valuation model and will complete (simple) hands-on exercises directly on their own computers throughout the workshop, with the FTI Consulting team assisting you every step of the way!
