In a two-day seminar on 16/17 May at the DIS’ Bonn premises, the Vis Moot Court case will be examined with a look at its economic angles and its potential for amicable settlement.
After an introduction to the theory of conflict analysis and mediation, participants will have the opportunity to test and improve their skills to resolve the dispute using mediation. The seminar covers topics such as: how to get the other party to the mediation; how to recognize inherent biases; the proper preparation for a mediation; how to conduct a mediation; and how to overcome an impasse. It includes both lectures and role-play to put theory into practice.
The seminar is directed at members of the German Vis Moot Court teams who already have deep knowledge of the extensive Vis case file and “experience” from arbitrating the Vis Moot Court case. The previous editions of the seminars have proven to be excellent opportunities to provide a showcase for students, showing what possibilities are offered by mediation. All have been exceedingly well-received.
