The DIS is committed to ensuring equal representation in arbitration.
In 2015, members of the arbitration community drew up a pledge to take action against the underrepresentation of women on international arbitral tribunals (the “Pledge”). The Pledge seeks to increase the number of women appointed as arbitrators in order to achieve a fair representation of women and men in arbitral tribunals.
The DIS is committed to the Pledge and pays particular attention to women when arbitrators are nominated by the DIS. Currently, 50% of all arbitrators appointed upon nomination by the Appointing Committee of the DIS are women.
