The University of Vienna, ICSID and Herbert Smith Freehills LLP are hosting a symposium on ICSID in the Geopolitical Arena on 27 November 2024, at the University of Vienna. The event is proudly supported by the Vienna International Arbitration Centre, UNCITRAL, DIS and Arbitral Women.

Meg Kinnear, former Secretary-General of ICSID, will deliver a keynote speech at the event, delving into her experience over the past 15 years and the unprecedented geopolitical changes experienced during that period affecting the global investment climate and investment protection. The symposium will also look back at the track record of ICSID in those years and consider its role in the geopolitical arena.

Featuring a lineup of stellar speakers including Christoph Schreuer, Andrea Bjorklund, Tim Eicke KC, Catherine Rogers, Markiyan Kliuchkovskyi, August Reinisch, Crina Baltag, Mathias Wolkewitz and more, the symposium will delve into the following topics:
